The Giant Boulder SE is part of Giant's entry level Lifestyle series of mountain bikes shared with the heavier steel framed Boulder. The frame on the SE model is made from ALUXX-Grade Butted Aluminum which is lighter, and an improved SR XCM suspension fork has been included as well as Shimano Acera rear derailleur and Suntour XCT V2 crank.

Otherwise the components remain consistent with the basic Boulder version, save for the lighter frame and paint job which in this case is available in red and satin black(street version) and for the women's version a choice of pearl white with orange trim or silver with lavender trim. Speaking of which, the satin black street version comes with a set of Kenda K-Rad 26x2.1 tires, while the standard red version uses MTB Trail 26x2.1 tires. Specs for the standard/street and women's models are listed below; also color pictures of each model.
