Product Shot 1 Kona's Big Kahuna 2011 model is a mid-range 29er mountain bike, and it falls in the middle of the 29er lineup. It is intended for single-track riding and offers several upgrades and changes from the 2010 model.

Where to Buy

The most obvious is the upgrade fork, RockShox Recon instead of Tora, followed by a full Easton wheelset. The 2011 also features a full SRAM drivetrain, mostly X7, with an X9 rear derailleur, instead of the 2010's Shimano mix. There are also Avid Elixir 5 hydraulic brakes instead of Shimano. Because of these significant differences, the price point is several hundred dollars higher than both the 2010 version of the Big Kahuna, and the 2011 standard Kahuna.
