To keep the cost of this bike down, the fork has gone from a Marzocchi DJ1 to a DJ2, which still provides lightweight strength. The brakes of this bike have been changed from the Shimano M575 hydraulic system to the similarly performing Avid Juicy 3 hydraulic system. This model is a step up from the base Shonky (2011) model in terms of its lightweight aluminum frame (the Shonky (2011) model's frame is chromoly), higher performing Marzocchi fork (the Shonky (2011) has a DJ3), and double walled Sun Estate rims (as opposed to cheaper Alex rims).
