Kona King Kahuna

$3,299.00 Released August, 2009

Product Shot 1The Kona King Kahuna is a top-of-the-line '29er' mountain bike similar to the Kona Big Kahuna. The main benefit that the King Kahuna boasts over the Big Kahuna is its hydroformed Scandium tubing (as opposed to the Big Kahuna's 7005 aluminum tubing) but the King also boasts entirely higher quality components (Easton XC2 29er Wheelset, Fox 32 F29 80-RL TA 80mm fork w/15mm Dropouts).

Otherwise, the King Kahuna sports the same performance-enhancing features as the Big Kahuna, including a sloping top tube, 29" wheels and a compact rear triangle.

The King Kahuna's Scandium tubing twice as strong as the more commonly used 6061 and 7005 aluminum alloys as well as 10-15% lighter while its sloping top tube provides more standover clearance and greater shock absorption than frames with horizontal top tubes. Additionally, the King Kahuna's 29" wheels provide it with greater stability, improved cornering and superior momentum while its compact rear triangle provides the perfect balance of stability and power transfer by way of shorter chain and seat stays.
