It is the first Kona mountain bike to offer a full carbon frame, and its components are usch that its price point undercuts many competitors' full-carbon models.

The front suspension is a RockShox SID with PopLoc remote and 100mm travel, and the drivetrain uses SRAM components, a mix of X7, X9 and XO SGS. Avid hydraulic disc brakes are on the front and rear, and the wheelset, handlebar, stem and seatpost are all made by Easton. The geometry follows that of the other Kula models, redesigned for 2011, with a longer top tube and lower centre of gravity.
