Product Shot 1The Shonky (2011) is the base offering in Kona's line of dirt jump/slopestyle BMX bikes. Features new for the 2011 model include a new head tube design, smoother lines with curves (instead of tack welded hard lines), Tektro hydraulic brakes (instead of Avid brakes), and a press fit Spanish bottom bracket with a bigger bearing that is more suited to BMX cranks.

Features that have not changed include a durable chromoly butted frame. Another feature that remains the same is the Marzocchi DJ3 fork, which offers a rigid feel. The main features that differentiate this model from the higher cost Cowan (2011) are the Cowan (2011) model's aluminum frame (which is lighter than the Shonky (2011) model's chromoly frame), Marzocchi DJ2 fork, and double walled Sun Estate rims (which belong to a higher price bracket than the Shonky (2011) model's Alex rims).
