Product Shot 1 Kona's 2011 Tanuki model is a lower mid-range model, and one of Kona's more affordable dual-suspension bikes. It is appropriate for a wide variety of trail conditions and features an intermediate suspension range between the 2+2 (more rigid, less travel) and the Cadabra (more travel).

It features an aluminum butted frame, Kona/Fastrax rear suspension, and RockShox Tora air front suspension. It has a Shimano Alivio/Deore drivetrain, Avid Juicy 3 hydraulic disc brakes, and wheels made of Sun rims with Shimano hubs and proprietary spokes. It is somewhat of a hybrid, intended for smooth single track or rougher wooded trails. The model above it, the Tanuki DL, is fitted for similar purposes but with upgraded components.
