Trek Madone 4.7

$2,620.00 Released September, 2008

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Very comfortable ride. High Quality SRAM Rival Group drivetrain and breaks. Sturdy TCT carbon frame with DuoTrap compatibility.

The Cons:Saddle isn't for everyone. Vanilla looks and performance - designed for comfort over pure performance.

The Trek Madone 4.7 is the next step up from the entry level Madone 4.5, sharing the same TCT carbon frame but with an improved drivetrain via SRAM Rival Group parts and a switch to Bontrager Race wheels.

Otherwise the two '4' series bikes have the same geometry and are both offered with a performance fit head tube which is 30mm longer for more comfort. The pro fit version with a lower head ideal for racing is only available with Madone series 5 and up. The frame is compatible with DuoTrap sensors which can be placed in a small inlet to wirelessly transmit speed, distance and cadenced information, although sold separately. Typically as the price goes up in the series the weight of the bike and it's components goes down, which make the Madone 4.5 an attractive option for people new to professional road bikes. More professional riders will feel the upgrade in shifters/drivetrain and race style wheels is worth the price difference.
