The Mamba's RockShox Tora 29 front suspension has a spring system for improved shock absorption, and is adjustable to suit the rider's needs. The Shimano Acera crank enables the bike to be more response to the rider's actions. The SRAM BB5 mechanical disc allows for accurate control of the brakes, that feature easy adjustment and pad replacement. When compared to another mountain bike by Trek, the Cobia, the Mamba has some disadvantages, such as a lower selection of speeds (eight compared to nine) and various different components (front derailleur, crank, etc). They do however, share many of the same components (saddle, seatpost, frame, etc). The Trek Mamba is also available in a women-specific variation called the Trek Mamba WSD. The components used are the exact same as the Trek Mamba, however the WSD uses a design tailored to women, to make it more comfortable than the regular Mamba.
